'Daddy Are WE The Baddies'
Sometimes life asks difficult questions, and what we tell our children and what we tell ourselves matters.
I never thought of myself as a political artist, I never felt particularly qualified but last year after the death of George Floyd the subsequent BLM protests, and the toppling of the Edward Colston statue I made this ‘Daddy Are We The Baddies’ image.
As it's now the aniversary of the toppling of the highly controversial statue, I decided release this small edition.
Modern racism is largely a white cultural creation, and thus there is a responsibility for us as white people, to acknowledge this and act accordingly to demand institutional change, but also to call out everyday racism within our own communities, and not act as though we have no skin in game.
If you have loved, and benefitted from the journey within the context of multicultural complexity, then this is surley something we should be willing to fight for.
